The Lost Years
For nearly twenty years I have used my iPhone to photograph the less serious, yet often the most immediate moments in front of me. Over time this practice has grown into an archive of more than 25,000 images—most of them quietly resting on hard drives, rarely seen.
They record the commonplace rhythms of daily life: plants and flowers in the garden, walks with my dog through the woods, and moments encountered while traveling between here and there.
Taken together, these photographs elevate the ordinary—objects, places, and people—by momentarily separating them from the rush of everyday life. In doing so, they magnify small observations into shared archetypal moments that many of us recognize but often pass by unnoticed.
